Not news. A story, told the way I'd tell a friend.
If you ever sent something back to Amazon and the refund never came, came late, came short, or you got charged again for the thing you returned, there's a $309.5 million class action settlement over returns and refunds. Amazon denies doing anything wrong. The official site says the deadline to file a claim is December 1, 2026.
The part most of the headlines skip: there are two groups. Group A is people Amazon's own records already flag. They file nothing and get paid automatically. Group B is everyone else in the class, and they only get paid if they file a claim by December 1. And the money isn't split evenly. Under the settlement agreement, Group A shares 92.7% of what's left after fees and costs, and Group B shares 7.3%.
The one thing I'd do: search your email for "ReturnSettlement" or "Amazon Return Policy Litigation." If a notice came, it tells you which group you're in. Use the official site only, not a link in a text, and not a site that wants a fee to file for you. Nothing gets paid until after the final approval hearing on March 16, 2027.
